Ulilia Chamisa_Magombedze is the Programmes Coordinator and Education focal point for CARE International in Zimbabwe. She passionately collaborates with policymakers, academics, researchers, and development practitioners, sharing proven models and best practices to ensure that education remains a top priority, even during emergencies such as disasters, pandemics, and protracted crises. Her driving force is to empower girls to overcome barriers to education, enabling women and girls to achieve their life goals and contribute to their agency.
With 7 years of experience in the education sector, Ulilia currently leads the “Supporting Transition, Retention and Training for girls (START4Girls)” project, a 4-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada, valued at 9,753,213 Million CAD. This project, implemented by CARE International in Zimbabwe in partnership with Coady Institute_St. Francis Xavier University, focuses on education, gender, skills development, and economic empowerment in fragile and vulnerable communities in Buhera and Mutare districts of Manicaland province, Zimbabwe.
As a team leader, Ulilia is outcome-driven, flexible, and deeply committed to humanitarian and development work. With 15 years of experience in international NGOs, she excels in proposal development, project planning, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, stakeholder engagement, financial control, and budgeting, with a specialization in Education, Gender, and economic strengthening programming. Her academic qualifications include a BSc Honors in Geography and Environmental studies, an MSc in Development Studies, and an MCom in Strategic Management.
