Charlene Pellsah Ambali has more than 18 years of development and humanitarian experience. Before assuming the Assistant Country Director – Programs role, she served as the Regional Humanitarian Manager for CARE Southern Africa; responsible for providing leadership, coordination and support to CARE’s humanitarian & emergency preparedness and response in Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Prior to that, Charlene has served as Interim Deputy Country Director in CARE Zambia and CARE Zimbabwe; as well as a Humanitarian Response Lead and a Team Leader for various humanitarian projects within CARE Zimbabwe. She has worked extensively with various International and Local NGOs in several capacities of Executive Director, Country Coordinator, MEAL Advisor, Programmes Manager, Communications Coordinator, among others.
Charlene brings a strong commitment to effective communication & coordination, strategic partnerships as well as programme development and quality. She obtained her Master’s degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Media Studies from the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe.
